Your iCloud, not our server.

We run no server for your children's drawings. They live in your own iCloud, shared only with people you invite.

Where your drawings live

  1. Your iPhone

You snap and sort here. Clean-up runs on the phone itself.

  2. Your iCloud

Apple keeps the gallery in your own iCloud, under your Apple ID.

  3. People you invite

The other parent and the grandparents see it because you asked them in. How family sharing works

No Crayon Years server. Your family's drawings never pass through us, so there is nothing to look at, lose or sell.

What we never collect

Crayon Years is built so none of this reaches us, not even for analytics or support.

  • No namesChildren's names stay on your devices.
  • No drawings or portraitsWe never get a copy of a single one.
  • No voices or titlesVoice notes and titles stay in your iCloud.
  • No advertising IDNo ads, no ad networks, no IDFA.
  • No location or contactsThe app never asks for either.
  • No tracking across appsNothing follows you to other apps or sites.

What does leave your phone

Anonymous counts, kept in the EU

We use PostHog on EU servers to count things, like how many drawings get saved in a day. No profiles, no names, no photos, no text. A count can't be traced back to you or your children.

What a count looks like

  • drawing saved
  • widget added
  • invite sent
  • export finished

In the app's Settings. On by default, off with one tap.

Children's data

Names, birthdays, drawings, portraits and voice notes never leave your devices, except to your own iCloud and the people you invite.

Buying Pro, no account needed

Apple handles the payment. RevenueCat tells the app whether Pro is active, using a random ID. We never see your name, email or card.

The privacy policy

Last updated Draft for legal review. Retention periods to be confirmed.

Who we are

Crayon Years is made by Zeus Apps B.V., a private limited company registered in the Netherlands. Zeus Apps B.V. is the controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we process

  • Your family's content. Drawings, photos, portraits, children's names and birthdays, titles and voice notes. Apple stores these in your iCloud. We have no access to them.
  • Anonymous usage counts. Events such as “drawing saved”, with the app version, device model and language. No names, no content, nothing that points to a person.
  • Purchase status. A random ID, the product and its dates, handled by RevenueCat so Pro works on all your devices.
  • Support emails. Only what you choose to send us.

Why we use it

Usage counts show us which features help and where the app breaks. Our legal basis is legitimate interest, and you can object at any time with the switch in Settings. Purchase status is needed to give you what you paid for. Support emails are used only to answer you.

Where it is kept, and for how long

Your family's content stays in your iCloud until you delete it. Deleted drawings wait in Recently deleted for 30 days, then they are gone for good.

Usage counts are stored by PostHog in the EU and deleted after 24 months. Purchase records are kept as long as tax law requires. Support emails are deleted 12 months after the last reply.

Who we work with

Apple (iCloud and App Store payments), PostHog (anonymous usage counts, hosted in the EU) and RevenueCat (purchase status). Where the law asks for it, we have a data processing agreement in place. We never sell data and we work with no advertising networks. We do not sell or share personal information, as US state privacy laws define those words.

Data outside the EU

Apple stores your family's content in your iCloud under the iCloud terms and privacy policy you agreed with Apple, and Apple decides in which data centres it is kept. PostHog hosts the anonymous usage counts in the EU. RevenueCat, a US company, processes App Store purchase receipts and the random purchase ID in the United States. Where personal data leaves the EU, the transfer relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

Crayon Years is for parents. Children have no account and don't use the app on their own. A parent enters their names, birthdays and artwork, and all of it stays in that parent's iCloud and with the people they invite.

Crayon Years is not directed at children under 13, and we collect no personal information from children, as the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) defines it. Your child's art never reaches us: it stays in your own iCloud.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct, delete or take a copy of your data, and object to or limit how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself: export everything as a ZIP or PDF, delete drawings or the whole gallery, and turn off anonymous usage in Settings.

Because usage counts are anonymous, we cannot find the ones that came from you. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we say so in the app first.
